"The bear with the running dog"
a trademark conquers the world
As can be seen on old letterheads, old catalogs and old original seals, Max Hermann developed the famous trademark "The bear with the running dog" for his Teddy Bears, stuffed animals, dogs and cats during the boom in the "Golden Twenties" in order to emphasize the quality of his products and to differentiate himself from competitors. At first, the image "The bear with the running dog" was associated with the name "MaheSo". In this context, "MaheSo" meant "Max Hermann Sonneberg" and then, from the end of the war, "Max Hermann and Son". With the division of Germany and the relocation of company activities from Sonneberg in the east to Coburg in the west, the name "MaheSo" in the trademark was changed to the name "Hermann". However, the image of the "bear with the running dog" has remained unchangeable for over 100 years now. This famous motif in Max Hermann's trademark began its triumphal march around the world in the 1920s from Sonneberg and later from Coburg.
