The Royal Event of the Year
HRH Prince Harry of Wales marries the American MeghamMarkle
On May 19th, 2018, one of the best-liked members of the English Royal Family, Prince Harry of Wales, marries the American Megham Markle. This alone is worth to dedicate an own Teddy Bear to the royal couple. For us as a Teddy Bear company located in Coburg/Germany, however, such a Teddy has an additional very special meaning.
178 years earlier - on February 10th, 1840 - Prince Albert from the ducal family of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha married the world famous Queen Victoria. Prince Albert of Coburg thus founded the Coburg dynasty in the English Royal Family. He is the great-great-great-great-grandfather of Prince Harry of Wales. It was only under the impact of the First World War that the English Royal Family changed its name to Windsor.
But already a generation before Albert and Victoria, the momentous chapter of the relationship between the ducal family of Coburg and the British Royal Family was opened. Already the mother of Queen Victoria, Marie Luise Victoria, was a Princess of Coburg. She was the sister of Prince Albert's father and also born in Coburg an there at home.
Until today, the marriage between the Coburg Prince Albert and his cousin, the English Queen Victoria, in 1840 is considered as one of the great love stories in history. Queen Victoria loved Coburg. So she wrote in her diary about Coburg: "...., if I was not what I am - this would have been my real home". Who will be surprised that all events concerning the English Royal Family are appreciated and celebrated in our town Coburg? Our "Royal Wedding Bear 2018" certainly belongs to this. It is a Teddy Bear designed and manufactured in Coburg, the birthplace and hometown of Prince Harry's great-great-great-great-grandfather.
Mohair is made from one of nature`s finest  sources for natural fiber, the Angora goat. This special fur is very long and naturally wavy. When sheared (this usually occurs twice a year) it is called mohair. The term "mohair" is derived from the Arabian word "Muhayar" which literally means "the fabric of goat hair". Despite the name similarity there is no relation to the Angora rabbit.
The collection of this noble hair does not require any animals to be harmed!
Angora goats are a delicate animal and are very sensitive to temperature change. This requires a dependable mild climate. Summers not so hot that the meadows dry out and winters not too cold. In the entire world there are only three regions that consistently meet these ideal conditions: Texas, USA, South Africa and Turkey.
The fur of the Angora go at is naturally white, curly and shiny. Its fibers have a remarkable strength when made into a pile fabric. These characteristics together with the noble appearance, silky feel and sheen make mohair one of the finest  fibers offered by nature.
